Job Description

This position is an opportunity to partner with clients across the country to provide affordable housing for those in need. Compliance Specialists work with affordable housing partners across the country, providing review and approval of affordable housing documentation for various national, state, and local programs. This position affords the independence to work remotely while still being supported by and immersed in a company that is a leader in the affordable compliance industry and has a company culture of inclusivity, work life balance, and camaraderie. Primary Responsibilities
Responsibilities for this position include but are not limited to the following:

  1. File Review – Review and approve or provide correction requests related to resident files submitted by affordable housing site management staff. Serve as first point of contact to our clients by communicating with site managers or other management personnel via telephone and/or email. Provide training and guidance to clients as needed.

  2. Communication – Provide thorough written communication to follow up on compliance deficiencies. Ensure important information is relayed to the client in the time frames outlined ; convey understanding of the comments and questions of others by listening effectively; use verbal skills to support clients as previously listed; speak and conduct oneself with internal and external customers in mind.

Required Knowledge/Skills/Abilities

  1. Must have affordable on-site experience or affordable housing compliance experience.

  2. Attention to detail, time management, and decision-making skills are among the most important traits a Compliance Specialist must have to be successful in this position.

  3. A Compliance Specialist must demonstrate flexibility and a sense of urgency.

  4. In addition to these general skills, a Compliance Specialist is expected to have at least 2 years of experience in affordable housing compliance or affordable property management.

  5. They should also have a working knowledge of the requirements of the LIHTC, RD and HUD programs.
