  • Dennis Wilson, Founder of ‘The Solar Center’
Dennis Wilson’s career serving residential and commercial clients in the energy industry spans more than 30 years. Dennis started his energy career in 1977, selling and installing solar hot water and heating systems on Long Island and in New York City.

Starting in 1983 and for the balance of the 1980s Dennis developed cogeneration plants for commercial and institutional clients. Most of these systems, ranging from 100KW to 50 MW, were financed by third parties, and each system sold the electricity and hot water or steam under long term contracts for use in the facility.

In 1989 Dennis established Enersave, Inc. The company was successful in winning three multi-megawatt utility energy efficiency contracts, under which Enersave delivered 15,000 KW of permanent demand reduction from energy efficiency upgrades. Total customer utility bill savings from the 96 large scale efficiency projects completed during the 1990s exceeded $60,000,000 by the year 2000.

Early this decade Dennis re-entered the solar industry by founding The Solar Center in northern New Jersey, with the goal of bringing solar electricity to residential and commercial customers. The company grew rapidly and quickly became the second largest residential solar company in New Jersey, with over 400 solar electric customers.

In 2008 Dennis sold his interest in the Solar Center and founded Renewable Power, Inc., to develop large scale solar energy systems, and provide consulting services to clients interested in developing comprehensive energy efficiency and renewable programs for their facilities.
